This Earth Day 40 is a key opportunity for people to join together to create a new paradigm about the relationship between the human race and all other life on the planet. April 22, 2010 is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. With global warming and other rising environmental ills, the Earth is in greater risk than ever, but there is also extraordinary opportunity to turn the tide. According to Catriona MacGregor, author of Partnering with Nature: The Wild Path to Reconnecting with the Earth we have the ability to bring about unprecedented advances in healing our planet. Yet we need to begin not just in taking outer actions like changing to energy friendly light bulbs and gas efficient cars, but by going deeper to changing the very way in which we view our relationship to the Earth and other living things. If we realized how connected we actually are to the Earth, we wouldn’t have to think about light bulbs or emissions. We would make Earth-conscious choices because we would know that the Earth is a part of us, and we are a part of it. What we do to the Earth, we do to ourselves. Walkabouts are for everyone who wants to celebrate Earth day by connecting with and honoring the Earth. MacGregor, has been a voice for animals and wild places all of her life.
